“Dirty Democracy” by Jürgen Roth

Empörung über die Gier der Eliten: Jürgen Roth

…It is not good to liberal democracy. Populists are with their hate slogans in many places on the rise. Vladimir Putin in Russia and Viktor Orban in Hungary rule with an iron fist. You are chosen and sufficiently popular in their countries. For the new populist right in Germany to AfD and Pegida they are the role model.
In his latest book “Dirty Democracy” tries the investigative journalist Jürgen Roth to investigate the causes for the Europe-wide democracy decay to the ground. He locates the failure of the ruling elites of the great democratic countries. In the self-indulgence and greed, cynicism and corruption vulnerability of prominent figures in politics and business.
Between bank bailouts and social cuts

The ordinary citizens, however experienced welfare cuts, tax money abuse and general loss of hope and prospects. If – as after the 2008 financial crisis -rescued banks and the people with their problems would be left alone, get their willingness to “right-wing or right-wing populist deceivers afterwards (to) march”, concludes the author.
The longest case study devoted Roth the “authoritarian leader State”, the Orban has built his view in Hungary.About 45 pages, he describes how the power-conscious Budapest government has undermined the liberal democracy as the inflammatory government propaganda refugees and migrants denied any human dignity. At length he goes into Orban Strohmann- and oligarchic system, all segments of the economy coats and money deflected from the EU assistance in the pockets of insiders and minions. The possible involvement of Orban’s eternal Interior Minister Sandor Pinter with the Russian Mafia find their appreciation.
Outrage over greed of bankers and bosses

Roth echauffiert about it,that former leading politicians from Germany and Austria serve as highly paid lobbyists for the despotic regime in Kazakhstan and the Russian oil company Gazprom. Him outraged the greed of bankers and bosses, the social insensitivity of most politicians, the new poverty of the workers, which of Hartz IV, Mini-Jobs and agency can no longer live.
Roth is not without controversy, he lost ever Trials for inaccurate or not provable allegations. Malfunctioning of this passionate polemic over long distances is that they often abruptly jumps from topic to topic, much as possible wants to pack in the sins of “Demokratieverschmutzer”.
Jürgen Roth on crime on all sides

At one point asks Roth: “Hells Angels and German Bank – a silly comparison?” maybe stupid not, but not particularly viable, apart from them, that Roth criminals Frankfurt milieu and the residents in the same city bankers attributed the same “business principle of unscrupulous enrichment” with the corresponding destructive consequences for the democratic civil society.
Especially places like this, it should facilitate critics and attacked, the author reproach themselves populist elite-bashing. His intention is not, he insists. Perseverance can not be this accusation against him ultimately because it specifically identifies actors and grievances and classifies in their contexts. One does not have to agree with every thesis of “Dirty democracy”.Nevertheless, the book is an important contribution to the debate on the question that all should address: What should be done to ensure that democracy is not slowly lost?…
